Let’s have a holiday, soon
It’s been pretty mad at work for the last wee while, so I was glad to take some time out and visit the hairdresser for a bit of hair modifying.
So now I find myself sitting in a chair with a showercap on my head, and a weird hairheating contraption that attempts to placate your protests of “hey my head is kinda getting hot” with nursery rhymes. Yes, those soft music-box melodies you hear in horror movie scenes showing the innocent child, playing in their room prior to some gruesome death.
I’ll put up a photo of the end result. But this tinkly music is gently putting me to sleep…
Anyways, just to let you guys know I’m off on holiday next week: me and my bros and sis are off to be tourists in the gold, Gold Coast. I’m sure we’ll survive the deadly swine flu pandemic that’s decimated the swine population around the world. That’s right, more pigs have been killed due to swine flu compared to humans.
Alright, enough rambling. Take care everyone!
UPDATE 4/7/09: The head-warming machine. Could be a low-grade torture device if you asked me.
Behind-the-scenes work
Hope everyone’s been enjoying the fantastic NZ weather.
Other than random timewasters, I don’t think I’ll be putting anything up for a while – I’m doing some biggish, behind-the-scenes work on another website (nothing sinister at all!)
So in the meantime… here’s something for a laugh – Microsoft’s up-and-coming music making software:
I guess software designers don’t always make great lyricists!

Looks like I’ll be driving the long way home.
From the AA Roadwatch at 2.29pm:
SH 1 Sh 1 Southbound Between Northcote Rd And Onewa Rd
Motorway Closed At Northcote Southbound Due To Serious Crash At Onewa Rd -
Expected Resolution >2 hours
Alternative Route Use Sh 18 – Sh 16, Or Northcote Rd Via Lake Rd Rejoin At Onewa On Ram
I guess it’ll be a good chance to sermon-jam, among other iPod-related pursuits.
Have a good weekend everyone!

New layout
After about 2 days’ worth of tinkering, the new layout of the site is complete! As you can no doubt tell, there’s been a colour change (a few people mentioned that grey on black was a bit hard to read), and less clutter. I had to modify a few things because admittedly I wasn’t too keen on bright yellow and black, and a big sunflower to grace the top of the page! So I changed all that too.
If you’re curious, the banner picture was taken at one of the entrances to 90 Mile Beach, on New Year’s Eve in 2007. I remember admiring the utmost simplicity of the scenery at the time, so i thought it would be a good match for my (hopefully) “clutter-free” layout.
I’ve got a pretty busy week lined up – flying to Sydney for two days on a work trip, and then driving down to Matamata midway into the church camp to join in the festivities! Next week is more scheduling and balancing, with a dinner, teaching, baptism service (my sister is getting water baptised!), worship band, work and of course, marathon training.
It’s all good, everything’s under control.

Why I won’t be using Google Chrome (yet)
time and time again
I’m trying to find some time to round off some recordings. I was fortunate enough to get about 90 minutes on a song that’s been in the works now for… well… months. It’s not because they’re difficult to do, just that I’m working without the luxury of days on end to refine, record, lay down tracks etc. Snatching time is so far the best I can do. So, it’s pretty slow going so far, but watch this space and hopefully I’ll be able to revamp/add some new music in the next couple of weeks!

I’ve worked out that I spend about 9 hours a week on the roads to and from work.
I spend about 40 hours a week at work, of which I need to be more productive (e.g. now).
I spend about 50 hours a week sleeping. About 2 hours in the Bible, 2 hours in smallgroup, 2 hours teaching, 2 hours in practice, 9 hours in food-related time, 3 hours running…
Where has all the time gone?
It is a sad day in New Zealand when
bulletpoint life
This week has been pretty good. Some highlights:
- Employers have been very gracious and removed the “trainee” from my job title (yuss!)
- Excellent opportunities to fellowship and hang with people in my life
- Even though I still stumble, I’m closer to God than I have been for a good while
- Lots of sermons to digest and consider, which is great
- Reading people’s blogs have given lots of good encouragement
- I’m gonna have a day off this Friday! And all the storms will (hopefully) have passed by then.
it’s a hard knock life for us
